December 2009 Holiday Greetings!
During the summer, the Grand Lodge of Colorado had their Annual Budget Meeting and adopted their budget for the upcoming calendar year. The good news is that the dues assessment of 2010 will remain the same as 2009, so their will be no increase for next year. The delegates at the meeting decided to balance the Budget by drawing from the Emergency and Timing Fund rather than raising the per capita for 2010. As the end of the year begins to come into focus, Friendship Lodge finds itself in a very precarious situation. The Lodge building was listed for sale during the summer by the Temple Board and we have a very serious party interested in purchasing the building. The buyer is interested in opening a day care facility. They are currently negotiating with the Solera Bank regarding financing, but apparently have a commitment from the City and County of Denver - Office of Economic Development for financial help as well as a grant from the Clayton Early Learning Center. We will know more in the next few days, but it certainly appears that the sale will happen. We will then have approximately 60 days to vacate and find another place to meet. Your input regarding a new "home" would certainly be appreciated. By the time you read this we will have had our elections for 2010. We appear to have the Officer positions filled for next year, but we would always appreciate more participation from the members. We hope to have some different activities next year that will encourage Lodge attendance. Stay tuned. Brethren, now is the time to pay your dues and renew your interest in the Lodge. If you are interested in the status regarding the sale of the building or helping Friendship find a new home, let us hear from you. This is YOUR Lodge! Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
